American River small dog harnesses are made from tightly woven mesh polyester to help keep your pup cool on walks. The fabric is lightweight and flexible for added comfort. Zigzag stitching is used for durability. The harness is machine washable.
Harness closes with Velcro closures AND snaps.
This pet harness closes with Velcro tabs and a strong plastic clip for added safety. Two D-rings connect to most standard leashes.
Step-in style for easy on and off.
A step-in dog harness means you put the harness on by slipping your pup’s paws through leg openings on the harness. This is an excellent choice if your doggy is head-shy and fearful of something being pulled over his or her head. FYI, the leg openings on this harness are large enough for the fluffiest of paws.
Choke-free design.
If your little doggy pulls on the leash, this harness safely directs the pressure to the doggy’s chest, not the throat. It's just one more reason so many people choose this harness. The choke-free design also makes this a good harness for use with car seat belts.

Your pup's chest measurement should fall in between the chest measurement of the harness. Most returns are because the harness is too small, so if your dog is on the larger end of a size, it's best to go up to the next size.

Choosing the right size harness for your little dog.
Measure. Measure. Measure.
Your dog’s chest measurement is more important than weight when it comes to choosing the correct size harness. Think of it like pants for a human. You can’t pick out the right size pants if you only know someone’s weight.
Measure all the way around your dog’s chest, right behind the front legs. Your dog’s chest measurement should fall BETWEEN the chest measurements of the harness.
Sizing isn’t standard in the pet world. Size small in one brand isn’t always the same as a small in another brand.
If your dog is right in between sizes, you can order two harnesses and return the one that doesn’t fit for a refund. No problem at all.
