Common health note: Like most small breeds, Pomeranians are prone to tracheal collapse. A harness is essential. Their thick neck fur can also make a collar fit tricky, making a chest harness the far safer and more comfortable option.
What Your Pomeranian Needs
A harness that works with their thick coat. Poms have a lot of fur around their neck and chest, so you want a harness with a smooth interior that won't mat or tangle their coat. Step-in styles are ideal since nothing goes over their head and disturbs that glorious mane.
A raincoat for wet weather. Here's the thing about a Pomeranian's double coat: it takes forever to dry when wet. A lightweight raincoat for rainy walks is a practical must-have for Pom owners to keep that coat dry, saving you a lot of towel time.
Sun protection in summer. That thick coat also insulates against heat, but Poms can overheat on hot days. A UV-protective sun shirt for intense summer sun, and always keep walks short in high heat, especially for white Poms.
